This chapter provides all the instructions and procedures necessary for system administrators to manage the Kiwire on your infrastructure.
Logging into Kiwire
To access Kiwire, open browser and type “http://yourkiwireip/admin/”
for example if your Kiwire installation IP is 192.168.0.1 your url will be “http://192.168.01./admin”
in the address field. Input the default username and password details provided below and click the “Sign In” button to enter Kiwire.Default Access
Note: If you login using the default credential , you will be presented with a Change password screen to ask you to change your credential . Please change your Default access to your secure password prevent abuse and for security reason.
Kiwire Dashboard provide an overview of the Kiwire system activity .
The dash board will provide information on
- Current connected user
- Total user registered in system
- New Prepaid/voucher created in the last 30 days
- New User account added in the last 30 days
- Login & Connected User frequency Graph , will show no of user that login vs connected concurrent user in the last 24 hour , this is helpful to determined if there is any issue with network topology if there is abnormal activity.
- Server Load of Kiwire system
- Ram utilisation of Kiwire system
- Free Disk space within Kiwire system
- Total Impression and Unique impression of user who view the captive portal / Hotspot pages
- No of devices online and no of device that is faulted detected by Kiwire System
- Recent monitoring event , the last update of any device faulted or come back online
- Recent Kiwire System activity logs
1.2 General Configuration
General Configuration setting let you set the overall of Kiwire Configuration such as default currency , password, prepaid default behaviour and other general setting.
|Password Display Format||Text : if set to text, Administrator will be able to view the user’s password in the user account view page.|
|Encrypted : set to encrypted if you do not wish administrator to view the user’s password in the page|
|Database Archive Day||How many day before trigger archive the transaction function, all user previous network usage will be reset .|
|Default Currency||Default Currency used for the system and display|
|Report Metric||Reporting metric for user bandwidth usage in Mb or GB format. To make it human readable.|
|Login Page ID: Display||text that will be used to represent USER ID,example for hotel installation you may want to use “Room No” as username display or “Student ID” in education environment.|
|Join Insight Network||Insight Network is Kiwire network that provide you access to industry key reporting, and other advance analytic reporting . By joining insight network , you will have the ability to access insight reporting that compare your overall performance metric with industry peer and region.|
|Default Prefix||Default prefix for prepaid card/ voucher to generated,
e.g. : SYN will be SYN123456|
|Prepaid Engine||The format the prepaid/voucher account is generated|
- Number in sequence
Prepaid / voucher generated will be serial sequence
- Unique ID
Prepaid / voucher generated will be unique but near random,
Eg : SYN5401AAE , SYN5402FA1 , SYN54032A4
- Random Engine
A random string of character , use together with random engine length limit. *note* a high length will prevent repeat of random character.
|Random Engine length Limit||Default length for Random engine to use when generate prepaid account if Prepaid engine selected is random . A short length will have repeat and thus limited max no quantity of prepaid account to be created , e.g. if limited to 4 , max will be 9999 account.|
|Default Suspension password||Default suspended user password, that will be
use if a user is being suspended|
|Admin’s Copy print Slip||Feature for carbon copy of prepaid/voucher printout to have admin copy .|
Example : For gmail smtp the following setting is being usedSMTP HOST
|SMTP Host||your smtp/mail server hostname or ip address|
|SMTP Port||SMTP Port for the smtp/mail server|
|SMTP Authentication||Does your SMTP require authentication to send mail , if yes please select SSL or TLS|
|SMTP Auth Username||Username for smtp authentication|
|SMTP Auth Password||Password for smtp authentication|
|Email from address||The email address that email generated will use as sender.|

1.3 Site Branding
Site branding let you brand Kiwire installation to your organization brand and identity.
|Customer||Name of the organization or sites|
|Industry||Select the industry type for the organization|
|Website||The url of your organization website|
|Facebook page||Facebook page link if any , to your facebook pages|
|Phone No||Your organization phone no|
|Fax No||Your organization fax no|
|Address||Your organization address|
|Logo||Your organization Logo
*Note : Logo size maximum must be 379 x 94 pixel , this logo is used for login page and also any print out to users. e|
|Map||After initial save , the map will display the location of the site installation|
The License management let you manage your Kiwire License and entitlement
|Url||Kiwire Update server url
|Cloud Username||Cloud username if given are for your organization to perform remote backup to our cloud backup farm.|
|License Key||License key given to validate the Kiwire installation|
|Feature Key||Feature Key if given to enable advance functionality of Kiwire capability such as Active directory, PMS , and others|
|Support Contract Key||An annually given support contract key that entitled you to be part of our support program including software update.|
The section below will validate the license copy or unlicensed copy
- License Expire On will state the expire date
- Software updates status, check if any software patches or update available.
- Cloud Backup will show the latest backup in the cloud server if any ( require subscription ).
1.5 Monitoring Configuration
Monitoring Configuration let you set and configure the monitoring functionality of Kiwire built in network management system (NMS)
The current administrator listing will list all existing administrator within the Kiwire system, click on
if you wish the administrator to receive email alert when there is a failure of device detected and click
if you wish to remove the administrator from receiving email alert.The Monitoring Setting let you set the time out value of device that is not responded within the time-out value given.
1.6 Admin User
Admin User let you add more administrator with its associated access right into the Kiwire system
|Username||username of the new administrator|
|Password||Password assign to the administrator|
|Fullname||Fullname of the new administrator|
|Email||email address of the new administrator, please use valid email if you wish the administrator to received email alert.|
|Access Level ( Group)||The access level module associated. Refer to “1.7 Administrator Group
& Security “ on how to create the policy first.|
1.7 Administrator Group Security
This function let you create administrator group and which module/pages the administrator are allowed to access.
|Groupname||A given group name to identified the access level|
|Module||Select the relevant module this group can access, highlight the
module and click > to select over
the available module will be displayed on the left tab and
right tab is the module selected for the group|
How to use :
- Mouse over to the Configuration then click on the Access Level on left site of the page.
- Enter the Group Name.
- Select Module Selection to select and assign module for the new group.
- Use > for single module or >> for all module to be added to “Can Access” List
- Use < for single module deletion or << for all module to remove from the “Can Access” List
- Press on the “Save Setting” button to save the changes in to the system.
- Use the [ Pencil icon ] if you wish to modify the existing groupname or [ X ] if you wish to delete the group.
1.8 High Availability
The High Availability module let you configure the High Availability capability of Kiwire, 2 license copy of Kiwire Must be purchased and updated to latest firmware for High availability to be supported.
|Enable HA||Enable or Disable HA functionality|
|Role||Select the role of this instance of Kiwire, the Primary unit of Kiwire will be Master and secondary Kiwire Unit will be the Slave unit. Currently dual master configuration is Not supported.|
|Master Kiwire IP||The IP address of Master Kiwire instance.|
|Slave Kiwire IP||The IP address of Slave Kiwire instance.|
|Synchronization Status||Status of synchronization , “Up to date ” for good High availability or “Failed” for failed HA.|
The Performance configuration module let you perform performance tunning on Kiwire engine. this is to maximize and take advantage of your hardware that host the Kiwire Software. the Recommended value are automatically generated based on your hardware configuration.
|Server Ram Detected||The amount of ram detected on the system hosting Kiwire|
|Server Processor core Detect||The amount of CPU core detected on the system hosting Kiwire.|
|Radius Setting||Adjust the parameter to suit your environment. if unsure please follow the recommended value or contact Support.|
